Repeater | OFF Vienna ‘21
Client: OFFF
Director: Ian Bradley
VFX Studio: Carbon
Role: CG Supervision, Workflow Development
Tools: Houdini, Maya, Arnold
The Brief:
For OFFF Vienna, the goal was to create a main titles film that embodied the festival’s annual theme, “Misfits.” The film sets the tone for the festival, celebrating those who challenge norms and carve their own paths.
Our Challenge:
The core challenge was translating a broad, abstract theme into a clear and emotionally engaging visual narrative. The team needed to build a distinct world that communicated contrast between conformity and creative freedom without relying on literal explanations. This required careful world-building, a cohesive visual language, and a hybrid 2D/3D approach that balanced expressive style with narrative clarity.
My Impact:
I got my hands dirty with many aspects of this job, including supervising character and environment creation, look development, and pipeline. I also jumped in to model and texture a slew of characters, with massive design support from Claudio and Filipe. Beyond asset creation, I helped define workflows and production standards that aligned the team around a shared visual goal. By bridging creative direction and technical execution, I ensured the project stayed cohesive, efficient, and on schedule as it scaled.
