Paramount+ Patrick Starship

“Commence nautical nonsense…”

Client: Paramount+
Director: Traktor II STINK
Agency: Droga5
VFX Studio: Parliament
Role: Creative Direction, CG Supervision, Workflow Development
Tools: Houdini, Maya, Arnold

The Brief:
Paramount+ wanted to move beyond its familiar mountaintop branding and take its characters somewhere unexpected. This spot launched a cross-promotional campaign set in space, uniting SpongeBob SquarePants and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds in a playful, cinematic escape.

Our Challenge:

We shot on the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds set at CBS Studios, integrating CG characters into a physical set with live actors and practical lighting. Our team ingested vendor-provided assets for the SpongeBob characters and walked a careful creative line—enhancing the assets to feel grounded in the real world without straying from franchise accuracy. We were also tasked with designing and building the Patrick Starship, blending SpongeBob’s playful world with subtle design nods to the Star Trek universe.

My Impact:
I supported on-set supervision; gathering HDRIs, measurements, and references while collaborating directly with clients during the shoot to align on creative and technical goals. Back in post, I led the CG team from pitch through final delivery, participating in client reviews and providing clear direction to help bridge creative feedback and production execution. I helped shape the design of the Patrick Starship, oversaw animation and lookdev, and guided cross-department collaboration to ensure quality and consistency throughout.
